You didn’t think we’d forget about San Faustino, the Singles’ holiday, did you? How could we? Studies have shown that at the base of every healthy relationship, romantic or otherwise, is the ability to spend time alone — and enjoy it. “Lonely” has become a bad word in modern parlance. It’s something that doesn’t quite translate to Italian, which speaks only of “solitude,” or the state of being alone. And according to many, this aloneness is something to be celebrated and appreciated, not seen as a lack for something (or someone) more meaningful. As my sister often says to her kids, the person you should always love the most is yourself.
Start your celebration of self-love with last year’s podcast episode “San Faustino,” where we talk about the many facets of being alone and how solitude contributes to a positive sense of self. Then put your thinking caps on and have a look at the articles and exercises in the document here. Finally, reward yourselves by listening to our San Faustino tracklist and take a load off. Make a day of it!
Buon ascolto e buon lavoro!
